GETTING TO SAN PANCHO

Also known as San Francisco, in the state of Nayarit, San Pancho is just a 45-minute drive north of Puerto Vallarta airport.
Arrival:
Nearest Airport - Puerto Vallarta
- there are many non-stops to PV, including Alaska Airlines and Westjet from the Northwest, and United, Southwest and Frontier from the U.S.
Transfer from Airport to San Pancho:
- car rental is reasonable, approx. $300USD/week, depending on the company and the season. Rentalcars.com lists all companies, and with an online booking they pick up at the airport - drive time approx. 45 minutes.
- taxi or van costs approx. $80USD
- for the more intrepid travelers there are buses that leave just across the pedestrian bridge from the airport. The bus for San Pancho leaves every hour, and every half-hour to Sayulita, from where you can take a taxi to San Pancho for approx. $12. Cost of the bus is about $3 - takes about 1hr. 15 min.
Driving Directions to San Pancho:
- from the PV airport head north on Hwy 200, direction Tepic/San Blas
- pass Sayulita, approx. 3 miles, to San Francisco (look for the green highway sign - San Francisco is the real name of the town, although everybody refers to it as San Pancho). Pass the first large white and black sign on the left that says Hacienda San Pancho - this is a real-estate development and they won't let you in the gate! Approx 200 yds. past this sign is a green sign saying San Francisco and a Pemex station. Turn left from the hwy onto the main street, Calle Tercer Mundo.
- continue down the main street for about 300 yds. You will see the soccer field on the right and a bright yellow gift shop, Artesanias Silvia, on the left. Just past this gift shop turn left onto Calle Honduras (not well-marked). Continue approx. 150 yds. to Casa Flores, on your right, the yellow-and-orange house just past an empty lot.
- if you arrive by bus, it drops off by the highway. Follow the driving directions - it is about a 10-minute walk to Casa Flores.
